First of Many

This is the first posting of many to come. As an introduction to this blog, this is a brief summary of what to expect here.

My background is in Economics, Financial Analysis and Personal Financial Advising. I have over 17 years experience in these areas; with a Fortune 200 company, teaching as a professor of Economics & Finance and now with a Government Organization.

I believe strongly in planning as well as the basic human condition to seek happiness. One of the true underlying guiding principals of economics is the pursuit of happiness and the decisions we make throughout our lives to reach happiness. I hope to help provide insight into both the human nature that drives us to make decisions, and to give advice on how to go about making the best decisions for long term happiness.

Whether it concerns retirement planning and investments, or how to approach planning for a vacation or buying a car, the decisions we make are driven by our own perspectives, and how well we see the big picture of our own lives. Most of us don’t want to see the big picture or think about the long run. Short term thinking is easier, quicker and simpler to deal with, but it leads to the dark side of economics and personal finance. Centering our minds, seeing the present as it fits into the future that we must live, and making decisions based on sound reasoning is what I hope to bring about for the readers of this blog.

Please ask me questions, send me concerns, and help me help you.

Thank you for reading, and remember, don't panic, it's only life.
